Dear Members,
We are excited to announce that our new Registered Address is:
221 The Lansdowne Building, 2 Lansdowne Road, Croydon CR9 2ER.
The majority of our team will be based at this new office, from where we will be able to continue all internal processing of our members accounts.
We will not be able to see members at this site however we are still available for pre-booked appointments in Croydon at: Job Centre Plus, Bernard Weatherill House 8 Mint Walk, Croydon CR0 1EA.

Our upcoming office move is planned mostly to coincide with the Christmas Break, so that we can minimise the impact on our services. However, please note that there will be some impact on the processing of member requests outside of the usual bank holidays that occur at this time of year.

When they approached us to see if this is something we could facilitate, we knew we wanted to get involved as we are equally passionate about promoting savings amongst the younger members of our community!

Dear Members,
It is paramount for CroydonPlus to continue to offer a range of products to meet our members financial needs.
For a decade, we have ensured that any increased operating costs have not been passed onto our Members. However, in response to recent cost pressures, and to ensure we continue to provide the best service to all of our Members, we now need to raise interest rates on some of our existing loan products, that have remained unchanged since 2013. These rate increases are still extremely competitive alongside others offered by local Credit Unions.
In addition, we'll make sure that our existing loan products continue to meet member needs, and with some products, we'll raise the maximum sums that can be applied for.

Dear Members,
Sadly, we have a bout of sickness within the team, which will mean that telephone answering and processing times will be impacted.
All requests for payments (made before 3pm) will still be processed and you will receive these by 5.30pm on the date of request. All payments made after 3pm will be processed the next working day. We would politely ask that should you be expecting a payment today, not to chase as this will slow processing down further.

CroydonPlus Credit Union scoop national award for tackling loan sharks
Croydon Merton and Sutton Credit Union has won a national award in recognition of its efforts to raise awareness of the dangers of using loan sharks.
CroydonPlus Credit Union has been recognised by the England Illegal Money Lending Team (IMLT) for their initiatives tackling loan sharks in the county and making communities safer.
The IMLT investigates and prosecutes illegal money lenders while supporting those who have borrowed money from a loan shark.
CroydonPlus have been awarded Partner Recognition accreditation from the England Illegal Money Lending Team (IMLT).
The new accreditation programme recognises and rewards partners that work alongside IMLT to raise awareness of loan sharks, and their impact on local communities, and to create safer spaces for people to live and work.
CroydonPlus raises awareness of campaign activities carried out to help tackle loan sharks.
Loan sharks are increasingly using social media platforms to advertise their illegal loans and target potential victims.
A recent campaign by IMLT, called #SharkFreeSurfing, ran across the Stop Loan Sharks and CroydonPlus social media platforms, with the aim of encouraging not just victims, but the wider community to report online illegal money lending activity.
Tony Quigley, Head of England Illegal Money Lending Team, said: “We would like to congratulate CroydonPlus on their partner recognition award and thank them for their outstanding efforts tackling loan sharks.
“We are extremely grateful for the support of our partners across the country and rely on them to act as our eyes and ears in communities. By working together, we can stamp out illegal money lending and protect residents from this awful crime.
“We continue to encourage people to come forward if they know of or have been a victim of loan sharks. You are not alone and we will support you.”

COST OF LIVING PAYMENT
HMRC will be making Cost of Living Support (COLS) Scheme payments with effect from Friday 2nd September 2022.
If your Universal Credit is usually paid into your CroydonPlus account, then the Cost of Living Payment will be made in the same way.
ABCUL have been in discussions with HMRC and they have confirmed that payments will be received by credit unions in the same format as current tax credit payments, there will be no change to the existing tax credit reference number and the payments will be identifiable.
These payments may take a number of days to be received by us, but we can assure members that all payments in will be processed in accordance with our usual banking timeframes. Should you wish to check your balance, you can do this by logging into your account via our Members Area.

Due to ongoing issues with COOP bank, payments in and out of your CroydonPlus Credit Union Account will be impacted. We are doing everything we can and awaiting an update from them regarding these issues.
We appreciate this is very inconvenient but please do not call us to chase payments, as this may only delay things further. We will process all payments as quickly as we can and will update you further as soon as we know more.

Due to unforeseen circumstances we have today experienced a major issue with our payments system. We have been working all day to try and fix the matter and hope to get some payments out later today. However, due to the nature of the issue some payments may not be made.

A suspected illegal money lender is under investigation in Croydon.
The England Illegal Money Lending Team (IMLT) working in partnership with Croydon Council Trading Standards and the Metropolitan Police executed a warrant at an address in Shirley this morning (Thursday, 30 September).
