Annual General Meeting 2021

Dear Members,

It has been a very challenging year for us all, but we are proud we have continued to grow and provide a service to all our members.

We have come a long way since our humble beginnings as Croydon Savers Credit Union, a Credit Union initially set up for Council staff. We are now a growing member based organisation, serving 3 boroughs with almost 8000 members. Of course, none of this would have been possible without the support from you – our members!

Since the start of the Covid-19 Pandemic, we have been working extremely hard to adapt and allow our members to still access all the support and advice that they require from us. We have had to introduce new work practices and implement new technologies to ensure this could happen. We have received some amazing feedback from many members for this and we are very proud of what we have achieved during these recent months.

Following the success of our virtual AGM held in September 2020. We are very excited to announce that we will again be hosting our next AGM virtually and would like to invite all our members to attend the meeting – from the comfort of your home or office, on Tuesday 9th March 2021 at 7.00pm.

We will be using the GoTo Webinar platform for the meeting, hosted by ABCUL, the Association of British Credit Unions. ABCUL have hosted several AGMs & SGM’s for other credit unions across the UK, so everything is tried and tested!

We would love for as many of you to join us as possible. If you would like to attend, please click on the link below to ‘register’ with ABCUL before the meeting. Simply enter your First Name, Last Name, Email & Membership Number, then press the blue ‘Register’ button – as below.

There is no cost to taking part. Once registered, you will receive a confirmation email immediately, from Jackie Littlewood at ABCUL, with a link to join the meeting. Please keep this safe and use it to access the meeting on the evening.


At the start of the AGM, we’ll run through how the virtual AGM will work. During the meeting, you can ‘ask virtual questions’ at any time by typing in the ‘Question’ section.  We will be monitoring questions throughout the meeting, and will either reply in the question area, raise your question during Any Other Business, or in some cases, respond afterwards.

All Attendees will be ‘muted’ during the presentation.   Ahead of a vote, the Presenter will ask members to use the ‘Hand Raising’ function to be unmuted for verbal questions. Voting will be live in the meeting with instant results.  The vote will be on screen, and members simply select their preference.  We will hold a test vote at the start of the meeting, so everyone can practice!

As this is a virtual meeting, we are not able to ‘hand out’ the usual information packs.  We have therefore added the documents, including our Annual Report for 2019 – 2020, to our website at the link below.  Please follow this link and take some time to read through the documents ahead of the meeting.

As with previous AGM’s, we will also have a Q & A session on the future of CroydonPlus, Direction and Service Provision. Please send any questions that you would like raised to us at, by 24th February 2021.

As a co-operative we are keen to involve members in the running of the Credit Union. We are currently looking for members to form our Supervisory Committee. This role is essential to the successful growth of the Credit Union as it helps to ensure that we strive to provide a consistent, fair, and excellent service to our members. It helps us to identify where there is room for improvement in staff training and member services. As such the role is satisfying but demanding as it requires time and a willingness to learn about credit unions and its operations. Members wanting to gain, refresh or develop new & existing skills may find this opportunity interesting and it will certainly present well on any C.V. We are also looking for members who are interested and willing to offer their time & expertise with supporting the growth of the Credit Union by becoming Board Members.
